Columbia Ranked One Of The Least Stressed Cities In U.S.

A recent study shows that Columbia residents are less stressed than those in most cities in the country. Health and safety are not major sources of stress for Columbians, according to WalletHub.

COLUMBIA, MD — Columbia is one of the least stressed cities in the United States, according to a new study by WalletHub. While residents may be stressed about their jobs more than people in other areas, data analysts for the personal-finance site found that Columbians worry less about finances, health/safety and family issues than those in other major cities.

The study by WalletHub compared 182 cities along 39 key metrics. Analysts looked at everything from debt load to divorce rates to number of working and sleeping hours. Columbia came in at No. 161 for stress among 182 major cities.

Here is what the data showed about how Columbia ranks:

• 14th – Job stress
• 149th — Family stress
• 161st — Overall out of 182
• 166th — Health and safety stress
• 175th — Financial stress

Columbia and Baltimore were the only two cities in Maryland that were evaluated in the study. Unfortunately for Charm City, it was on the other end of the spectrum, ranking among the most stressed cities in the nation.
