Vantage Point Focuses on Elections, Holds Candidates’ Forum

Vantage Point senior living community recently hosted “Election 2018 Candidates’ Forum” in the Vantage House auditorium. Howard County Executive candidates Calvin Ball (D) and Allan Kittleman (R), District 4 County Council member candidates Deb Jung (D) and Lisa Kim (R), and the eight school board candidates (pictured from l.), Vicky Cutroeno, Bob Glascock, Danny Mackey, Jen Mallo, Robert Miller, Anita Pandey, Sabina Taj and Chao Wu, participated in the candidates’ forum.
A representative of the League of Women Voters, Nancy Berla, who is a resident of Vantage Point, served as moderator. Members of the audience asked questions of the candidates. Topics ranged from the plans to address Ellicott City’s future to renaming the Animal Control office.
Vantage Point was founded in 1990 and is a nonprofit serving people 60 and older. Managed by Life Care Services, the community includes a variety of living arrangements from studio to three-bedroom. It provides long-term health services available exclusively for residents should they need them.
Vantage Point is noted for its arts, cultural and educational activities, as well as for resident engagement with the larger community of Columbia. The residence serves as a polling site.
Last year Howard Magazine named Vantage Point the Best Senior Housing Community in Howard County, according to the magazine’s readers. Over 16,000 voters cast ballots in the annual contest which garnered votes for “75 favorites for 2017” in a wide variety of categories from restaurant specialties to physicians.
