Residences at Vantage Point Resident Wins National Senior Health & Fitness Day Theme Contest
May 27, 2026
Residences at Vantage Point proudly celebrates an extraordinary achievement within our community. Longtime resident Marilyn Donovan has won the 33rd Senior Health & Fitness Day Theme Contest with her inspiring message, “Move a Little… Live a Lot!”
This national recognition reflects not only Marilyn’s creativity but also our own strong culture of wellness.
A National Win for Senior Health & Fitness Day
Earlier this year, contest organizers selected Marilyn’s theme as one of three finalists for Senior Health & Fitness Day. After we invited residents, friends and families to vote, our community responded with enthusiasm. Because of that collective support and Marilyn’s compelling vision, “Move a Little… Live a Lot!” earned first place.
This accomplishment marks a proud moment for everyone at Residences at Vantage Point. In fact, it shows how our residents shape conversations about senior health and fitness nationwide.
We will celebrate National Senior Health & Fitness Day on Wednesday, May 27. Of course, we look forward to honoring Marilyn’s winning theme as we prioritize movement, vitality and connection.

The Story Behind “Move a Little… Live a Lot!”
For Marilyn, this message represents more than a catchy phrase. Instead, it reflects a philosophy grounded in decades of service.
Marilyn holds degrees in recreational therapy and education. She began her career as a therapist at Walter Reed Hospital and Levindale. Later, she transitioned into education and served as both a teacher and a principal. After retiring from education, she returned to recreational therapy and worked another decade with Lorien Health.
For the past eleven years, Marilyn has called Residences at Vantage Point home. During that time, she has volunteered and led programs throughout our Life Plan Community.
For example, she leads an exercise class in our Assisted Living neighborhood. There, she motivates wheelchair-bound and sedentary residents to keep moving. As a result, many residents gain strength and confidence. That daily encouragement ultimately inspired her winning Senior Health & Fitness Day theme.
Her message is simple yet powerful. Even small movements can lead to meaningful gains in strength, independence and quality of life.
Wellness at the Heart of Our Community
At Residences at Vantage Point, Senior Health & Fitness Day reflects what we practice every day. In fact, we integrate wellness into daily life across our continuing care retirement community in Columbia, Maryland.
We provide opportunities for residents to stay active and socially engaged. In addition, we support intellectual growth and purposeful living at every stage.
Marilyn’s theme captures this approach perfectly. Movement does not need to be extreme to be effective. A short walk makes a difference. A seated stretch builds flexibility. Likewise, a guided class strengthens both body and spirit. Each action contributes to overall well-being.
In essence, residents drive many of our wellness initiatives. They share expertise, encourage neighbors and create meaningful programs. Consequently, our community continues to thrive.
Join Us in Celebrating Marilyn
When you see Marilyn, please congratulate her on this national honor. Her achievement reflects dedication, compassion and leadership.
Most importantly, her words remind us that vitality remains accessible to everyone. By choosing to move, even a little, we truly can live a lot.
As we prepare for Senior Health & Fitness Day on May 27, we invite everyone to embrace her winning message. Together, we will continue building a culture of wellness that empowers residents to thrive.
At Residences at Vantage Point, we proudly celebrate Marilyn Donovan and the spirit of Senior Health & Fitness Day she represents.
