Pierce Carey Weighs In On Longevity-Ready Maryland Initiative
January 9, 2024
Governor Wes Moore rang in this new year with an executive order establishing the Longevity-Ready Maryland Initiative. According to the order, the initiative will be “a blueprint for all sectors to positively transform the aging experience for all Marylanders, through collaboration, partnership, strategic investments, and policy changes.”
The program will proactively address the needs of Maryland’s growing older adult population. For 18 months, the state will seek feedback to develop the plan and then implement it over the next decade. Representatives from agencies on aging, older adults, organized labor, older adult advocacy organizations, caregivers and state agencies will provide input. The workgroup will also include aging experts in healthcare, technology, academia, innovation and philanthropy.
Our Voice in the Development of the Longevity-Ready Maryland Initiative
Pierce Carey, executive director of Residences at Vantage Point, is pleased.
“This initiative will focus study and resources on topics that will directly benefit our residents,” he says. “I look forward to representing our community as the state develops this program.”
In related news, Carey recently joined the board of LifeSpan Network, the largest senior care provider association in the Mid-Atlantic. LifeSpan represents more than 250 senior care provider organizations in Maryland and the District of Columbia. Since the initiative will solicit input from all facets of Maryland’s aging community, Carey’s new position gives Pierce an important voice to the Residences at Vantage Point community.
