Columbia Is Our Campus
On Sunday, October 13, community members came together to celebrate HOCO PRIDE 2023 at Merriweather Park at Symphony Woods. The theme for this year’s event was “Our time to thrive!” Not surprisingly, we renewed our sponsorship of this family-friendly event that spotlights Howard County’s inclusivity and diversity.

The festival began at 11 AM with a Baltimore Symphony Orchestra child-focused Music Box Concert and went on to include performances by DJ Confetti the First, eight drag performers and aerialist Kelly Purtell. Furthermore, all of this was against a backdrop of LGBTQ+ artisans, vendors, activities and food trucks.
Our Sponsorship of HOCO PRIDE 2023
Residences at Vantage Point joined ten other organizations in sponsoring HOCO PRIDE 2023. Accordingly, our booth featured a Prize Drop game with fanny packs, rainbow buttons, keychains and mystery prize giveaways. Of course, our table also highlighted Residences at Vantage Point as a supportive and inclusive retirement community.
Celebrating our LGBTQ+ Members All Year Long
PRIDE Month is June, and PRIDE History Month is October, but Residences at Vantage Point supports our LGBTQ+ community year-round. One way we do this is through our SAGECare certification. SAGE (Services and Advocacy for GLBT Elders) is the country’s largest and oldest organization whose focus is improving the lives of LGBTQ+ older adults. In short, their certification program, SAGECare, provides LGBTQ+ competency training and consulting on LGBTQ+ aging issues to service providers. To be certified, a community has to have a percentage of their administration and staff trained by SAGE. Residences at Vantage Point is proud to be a SAGECare Platinum certified organization.
At Residences at Vantage Point, we celebrate our diversity, both on our campus and in the broader community. And like HOCO PRIDE 2023, we believe that this is our time to thrive!
